Social Media Committee

NSS Press Releases

At the March 23, 2013 Board of Governors Meeting, the Social Media Committee was created (Act 86-870) within the Public Relations Division residing in the department of the president. The Social Media Committee conducts the NSS’s publicity and information activities and promotes the NSS through online and social media channels. This committee also evaluates new social media venues and online outreach technologies.

What we do

The Social Media Committee manages and posts content to social media channels that supports the NSS's mission. We prioritize content with national, or regional interest to the caving community in general and/or to NSS members, and we prioritize content that originates within the NSS and NSS organizations, such as NSS Grottos, Regions, Committees, Sections, Surveys, and Projects. We also manage membership and posts in our Facebook Group, Google+ Community, and LinkedIn Group.

We generally do not create content, but manage and post content provided by NSS organizations and members like you.

Send us your news, announcements, and information to us for posting! Please include

  1. A 25-word or less message. Messages longer than that clutter up social media timeline feeds.
  2. An eye-catching graphic or image (2MB or less) to attract attention.
  3. A link to a webpage so the reader can take action or learn more. This is important to more deeply engage interested readers. It could be a link to the registration page for your event, or a link to a page with a full news article,

Simply put this in an email and send to socialmedia@caves.org or use the

Social Media Request Form

If you are the recipient of a NSS Grant, please fill out this form once a year until the project is completed.
