Southwestern Region Awards
The SWR gives out several awards during our annual winter technical meeting:
SWR Honorary MembersFor their tireless contributions and efforts toward the success of the Southwestern Region, the following persons have been elected SWR Honorary Members
SWR Cartography AwardThe award was created in 2016 to recognize those cavers that have made exceptional contributions in the field of caving cartography. The award is given to:A SWR caver that has been producing exceptional maps of caves. The award criteria are that the individual: 1. Has produced an exceptional number of maps of caves, and/or: 2. That the produced map(s) is exceptional, and/or: 3. Shows exceptional promise as a new cartographer An award committee will be appointed by the Chairman of the SWR to consider and evaluate candidates for the award. The award will be based on and awarded on merit, and presented at the SWR Winter Tech. - In 2002 the Southestern Region received the US Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management National Volunteer Award, one of only two such group awards given by the BLM in 2002. |
