AN UNKNOWN CAVE IN AN UNKNOWN COUNTRY

This excellent multimedia presentation is about the travels of Roland Vinyard to a World Class cave (cave unknown) in some country or another - thus the title. The Cave and Country are not named in order to protect the cave. In any case, the cave is world class and the story is intriguing and at times humorous. It will keep your interest up in spite of the length.

CAVES AND CAVING -
A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

This program is a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation on CD ROM, which is an introduction to caves and caving and the National Speleological Society. After a short introduction, the program presents a light hearted 'top 10 list' on common misconceptions the general public has about caves. It goes on to list common myths people have about bats. The next section provides some facts about the NSS and then goes into some detail about the different cave preserves the NSS is involved in. Next, a number of slides deal with caves and conservation and ecological issues. The rest of the program is a pictorial presentation on horizontal and vertical caving. This program is perfect for giving caving talks at service clubs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, youth groups, and so forth.

HISTORY BENEATH OUR FEET: THE EXPLORATION OF MCFAILS CAVE

This PowerPoint program by Thom Engel fully documents the history of the exploration of McFails Cave. The hisrtory starts out in 1828 with the first owner, Alfred McFail and finishes with a survey in 2005. Even though McFails Cave is 7.1 miles long, there are still leads left, so the history is not complete.

McFails is owned by the National Speleological Society and is the NSS's first preserve, purchased in 1965

This 12 minute narrated program documents the history and the new discoveries that have been made in Warm River Cave. Produced by Philip Lucas and David Socky. Narration written and performed by Philip Lucas.
