The NSS AV Library Catalog Key

Each program in the catalog is described using the form shown below:

Slide or Video title description of the programs
Program code and number    (V111)
Category of program
Producer and Date
Quality of show
number of minutes or number of slides

Most of the information is self explanatory. A program code and number is assigned to every program. The codes are as described below:

S = Slide Program (Single Projector)
V = Video
D = DVD
C = MulitMedia

For slide programs, the bottom box indicates if a script and/or audio cassette is supplied with the program.

Quality Content Ratings

Semi-professional (Very good program intended for informal grotto meetings, but not suitable for broadcast. Typically filmed or assembled on an ad hoc basis but activity depicted is well organized and well edited.)
Informal (Intended for personal use to gain information on a topic. In general not suitable for grotto meetings. Typically filmed or assembled on an ad hoc basis with little editing.)
Not graded

Quality Media Ratings

Professional (Comparable with best programs of its type; suitable for formal meetings or broadcast. Equivalent to second-generation slides, or video typically acquired using an S-VHS/Hi8 or better camera, edited with professional equipment, and distributed using third-generation or better tape.)
Semi-professional (Very good program intended for informal grotto meetings, but not suitable for broadcast. Equivalent to third-generation slides, or video typically acquired using a S-VHS/Hi8 or better camera, edited with S-VHS or better home equipment, and distributed using a fourth-generation tape.)
Informal (Intended for personal use to gain information on a topic. In general not suitable for grotto meetings. Equivalent to fourth-generation slides, or video typically acquired using a VHS/8mm camera, edited with VHS home equipment, and distributed using a fourth-generation or greater tape.)

In most cases, only the content ratings are included with the program since the mdia rating usually follows the content rating. Any exceptions to this are clearly stated in the quality box for the program.
