Naturally Polished Pebbles from Black Hills Caves
Dwight E. Deal

Abstract

"Cave pearls" that may have been naturally turmble polished are found in Bethlehem Cave and Jewel Cave, South Dakota. They are formed from fragments of limestone, calcite, other speleothems, and chert (?). Due to the questionable identificaiton of the chert fragments a solutional origin cannot completely be rules out.
