Establishment of a Quadrat System for Quantitative Ecological Studies in Cathedral Cave, Kentucky

Abstract

Cathedral Cave and its relations to the Flint Ridge Cave System of central Kentucky are described. A quadrat system for quantitative ecological studies was established in the cave. The quadrats are in the form of bands extending around the entire circumference of the cave passage. The technique for measuring the surface area of the cave is also described ad illustrated with three figures and a table.
