Prospecting for Caves
Cord H. Link Jr.

Abstract

Topographic maps are useful adjuncts to field work when they are studied for clues to caves. The techniques discussed are useful for interpreting surface features in the hunt for limestone caves in areas of gentle dip. At best, however, a topographic ap serves to isolate those areas which can prove most worthy of careful search. Topographic maps can be obtained for twenty cents each from the US Geological Survey, Washington 25, DC or from your state department of geology. State index maps are free on request.
