OFFICER REPORTS

➢ Chairperson – Charlotte Alavi – cga0010@mix.wvu.edu
○ We are a chapter of the NSS and we started in 1977. We cave for recreation and cave conservation. I
led a trip with Ben Schafler to Simmons Mingo last weekend and it went well. Connor is leading a trip
to Red Run this weekend.

○ Vertical practice at the rock wall tomorrow at the rec center from 5pm - 9pm.
➢ Secretary – Dylan Smith – dds00002@mix.wvu.edu
○ Blackwater Canyon trip went really well. Got to show a few new people how to rappel outdoors for
their first time. We hit 3 caves during the day and everyone had fun. Come talk to me if you want to
join the listserv after the meeting.
➢ Treasurer – Aimee Ballard – anb00002@mix.wvu.edu
○ Total: $1,520.61.

○ If you have any problems with the Discord, talk to me. February 18th is the Sarah Furnace survey trip
and you need to tell me tonight if you would like to go. Could end up being a day trip or a camp trip
depending on what we’re feeling closer to the date.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

● Aidan dropped some pits last weekend at Blackwater Canyon and they were very wet.
● Sarah dropped her first real pit at Blackwater Canyon and used an emergency blanket to combat the cold.
● Wyatt dropped into a small pit at Blackwater Canyon and quickly climbed back out.
● Josi went to Simmons Mingo and was informed that the rigging entrance was a cougar den and to be
careful. They went down a mountain called Everest that was not fun to hike. A large borehole was found
with an angry bat inside. There were some really nice gypsum flower formations as well.
● Charlotte recreated a picture for her mother who was also an avid caver back in the day.
● Jake Lee went hiking in the rain at Quebec Run for 7 miles.
