Meeting Minutes 2/29/2012
7 people attended the grotto meeting
Meeting called to order by Chairman Jeremy Browning at 8:03pm
Treasurers Report:
- $812.44 (same as last week(after correction))
- We need to pay both caver bills which will be sent off together
Vertical Practice:
- There was no vertical practice on Tuesday so instead there will be an indoor practice at 5:30 this Thursday (tomorrow).
- If anyone wants to practice at another time, please contact Jeremy Browning.
Old Business:
- Pendleton County trip rescheduled (refer to important dates for details).
- SGA grant is almost finalized, just need signatures
- Nothing has been heard about the logo.
- Newsletter is still being tweaked but very near finalized
- Allen discussed club sports. Within his discussion it was concluded that it would be a lot of work for little reward. However, Allen has agreed to look into it further because there was still some interest in pursuing signing up.
- Allen talked to Dr. Rauch and Dr. Rauch brought up some good points on how to gain new members. He said the grotto could send out a mass email for all of WVU through enews and we could also post things in the Daily Athenean. This should only be done for important events such as presentations.
- Andrew thought of advertising the grotto on the display TVs in the Mountain Lair and elsewhere throughout campus. Jeremy will come up with a display set up.
- Jeremy was contacted by Garth from Fairmont and he offered his place for the Easter Beer hunt idea.
New Business:
- --- -- ------
Trip Reports:
- Rancho Relaxo: Went into Organ Cave to Pendulum Rock and played with the Pendulum before going into the Treasure Room. Brady was talked into going to the back to check out an awesome column. A few people went into the Black Room before heading out.
*THANKS BEN!!*
- Allen went to Short Cave for a short trip and surveyed a little less than 250 feet of cave but managed to break 1.75 miles. The cave is now 1.77 miles long.
- In place of the meeting last week the grotto went to Maiden Run. It was surprisingly a fun trip compared to what was told about the cave in the past. They went through the cave until they hit water and then turned around and exited the cave.
