Meeting Minutes 1-25-2012
9 people were in attendance
Meeting called to order by Chairman Jeremy Browning at 8:03pm
Treasurers Report:
- A couple dues were taken which brings the total to $1107.75 (Last weeks treasurers report was apparently incorrect).
- Online banking will be checked into for next week.
Vertical Committee:
- 2 people showed up to Mondays practice. It’s possible that the vertical practices will be held less frequently due to low attendance.
- Practice will be held every Tuesday at 5:30pm in the Rec unless stated otherwise.
Old Business:
- SGA grant still needs to be finished
- The Grotto Newsletter has been completed! The Newsletter will possibly be bound similar to the NSS News but price determines what will be done. We will also be distributing the Newsletter to other grottos that have sent us Newsletters in the past. We also need to send one to the NSS.
- The ZebraLights that we were to order are on backorder for 2 weeks. John showed the effectiveness of the ZebraLight he owns.
- It was brought up at the last meeting that we should set up tables at the Rec or Mountainlair to help recruit people to come out to the meetings. Jeremy still needs schedules from everyone who would like to help out so he can get things set up for us.
New Business:
Dr. Rauch asked that the officers create a list of their contact information. This was done after the meeting.
Important Dates:
- The trip scheduled for the 28th and 29th (this coming weekend) has been cancelled. However the GVKS is having a party that we can attend on Friday night and we are welcome to come down! There probably will not be caving associated with the trip.
- Ranch Relaxo is still scheduled for February 17th-19th. We will discuss rides, etc when the time gets closer.
- The Simmons-Mingo trip has been rescheduled for the 17th and 18th of March.
Obituaries:
Wright Harper, who owns several caves in Germany Valley including Shoveleater, Ruddle, etc, passed away this past weekend. John Harman is buying flowers.
Trip Reports:
John Harman summarized his 1 year and 4 month digging session in Kisamore Cave. He dug a small crack and could hear a massive echo in the distance and eventually broke through into the bottom of a disappointing 40 foot high x 12 foot wide dome room with an impossible tight crack on the other side. John said, “I was pretty disappointed but I will be back.”
Meeting adjourned at 8:24pm by Chairman Jeremy Browning
