WVUSG Meeting Minutes November 2, 2011

Meeting called to order by chairman Allen Dove at 8:05pm

We had 4 new faces along with other regular attendees. Thanks Dr. Rauch for sending us a potential future member!

Treasurer's Report:  $984.34 (same as last week)

- Some members need to pay their dues!! Please pay ASAP!!

Vertical Committee: 

- 4 people went to practice this week. 5 are ready for the Harper's Pit trip.

- If you are wanting to go on the vertical trip then you MUST be given the OK by Jeremy! An outdoor practice is a requirement for an OK by Jeremy. If you have not done an outdoor repel then you must contact Jeremy ASAP. He will NOT be having any practices after Wednesday. He stated a couple weeks ago that he would not have any last second practices. 

Old Business: 

- A few people will be working the football game against Louisville this Saturday to raise money for future trips, etc.

- The first vertical cave trip to Harper's Pit will be next weekend November 12th and 13th. There will be a horizontal cave trip to Mystic Cave on that Saturday followed by the vertical cave trip on Sunday for those who are given the OK by Jeremy. 

- Jeremy Browning received Pete Penzer's "No Cave for Old Men" from Brian Masney. We watched it during the meeting. 

- The Christmas party is scheduled for the weekend of December 3rd as we will be staying in cabins and be having our second vertical cave trip to Carpenter-Swego that weekend.

New Business:

- There may be a possible trip to Greenbrier County to do a day trip into the Friars Hole Cave system via an entrance that will be decided at a later date. Allen has agreed to contact Tom Hay for specs on how to gain access to the cave.
