Meeting Minutes October 26, 2011

Meeting called to order by Chairman Allen Dove at 8:00

There were 18 people in attendance

Treasurers Report

·         There is currently $989.34 in the bank.

·         People NEED to pay dues and fees for beginner's weekend.

Vertical Practice

·         We had three people in attendance this week. Anyone that plans to go on the first vertical trip must be checked off by Jeremy Browning as ready for the trip.

Old Business

·         A list of gear has been established for the student grant. It will be: Five Princeton Tec Apex's, five D mallion's, six black diamond positron locking carabiners, and three long oval 7mm mallions.

·         Jeremy will contact CJ Culliton tomorrow about working the Louisville for a grotto fundraiser.

New Business

·         Grotto Christmas party trip in December proposed for anyone interested.

·         John Tudek found a recent study that experimentally shows the way WNS is transferred. Anyone interested in the study please contact John Tudek.

·         NCRC Orientation to Cave Rescue at Laurel Caverns is this weekend anyone interested should contact them directly. The Website link was posted by Nicole Good on the list serv.

Program

·         Dr. Harry Marinakis made a presentation to the grotto on Cave Diving. In the presentations was a detailed description of the gear and configurations, steps to become a cave diver, and rules and regulations. Along with the rest of his presentation were a lot of pictures.

Notable Dates

·         The first Vertical Trip will be to Harper's Pit on November 13, 2011.

·         Second Grotto Vertical trip will be December 3, 2011 to Carpenter Swago. The date is still is subject to change.
