Meeting Minutes 28 September 2011

Meeting called to order by Chairman Allen Dove at 8:03 pm

10 people were in attendance.

Treasurers Report

Current account balance is $895.34. $145.00 in dues have been collected thus far this semester.

Vertical Practice

Vertical practice has seen some good attendance this week. Most people who have been attending have begun to learn change-overs. Once many members have done change-overs more vertical practices would like to be held outside while the weather is still favorable. 

The first vertical trip has been tentatively set for December 3, 2011 to Carpenter Swaygo.

Vertical Practice will continue to be held on Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 pm-7 pm at the Rec Center. Please check the list serv for cancellations or location changes.

Old Business

Student Orgs Grant is under way by John Tudek. Some suggestions for the budget are: Headlamps, Helmets, and a 4th set of vertical gear. A budget needs to be put together within the next two weeks. 

Allen Dove proposed the grotto should work at least one football game this semester as a fund raiser. 

New Business

Video of exploration of Memorial Day Cave along with the documentaries  No Cave for Old Men and No Points for Style for grotto meetings.

Documentary by Kevin Kealey about Mt. Kanocti to be acquired by the grotto.

Notable Dates

Norman Cave Trip- On October 1st and 2nd the grotto will be going to Norman Cave. People will be meeting at 8 am at lot 7 parking lot please contact a ride. Dinner will be hamburgers and hot dogs at WVACS Field Station grill. It is 5 dollars a night for a bed and 1 dollar for a shower. John Tudek and Adi Adumitroaie will be providing rides as necessary. Other drivers are welcome and encouraged. Directions will be posted on the list serv. Meeting place in Lewisburg at Wal-Mart. Please contact John Tudek at hewhocaves@gmail.com for more information

Mystic Cave-John Harman and Abby Hohn are leading a trip into Mystic Cave on GVKS Sunday, October 9, 2011. This is a wet cave so dress appropriately. Meeting place is the GVKS Field house around 10 am or 11 am. 

Bridge Day is October 15, 2011 at New River Gorge. Please come out to support the grotto members who are participating at Bridge Day and enjoy everything New River Gorge has to offer.
