Meeting Minutes 14 September 2011

Meeting called to order by Chairman at 8: pm

The total number of people in attendance at the end of the meeting was 13

Treasurers Report:

• Same as previous week

Vertical Practice:

• No vertical Practice was held due to no one attending

Old Business:

• Allen has made progress on finding people to speak at grotto meetings

• The grotto went into Barton's Cave on September 13, 2011. 

• Dr. Rauch took a karst class into laurel caverns, Jeremy Browning was in attendance

• John Tudek and Jeremy Browning did some fieldwork in Maryland caves on September 13, 2011

• Watch for bats swarming at different places downtown.

New Business:

• Members are now providing their own batteries AA's and AAA's. 

• Described what Sharp's cave was like and a brief description of Bridge Day.

• Directions will be placed on the list serv and we will be meeting at the coliseum at 6 pm on Friday night. Many other people are leaving at scattered times throughout the evening so contact someone through the list serv for a ride if 6 pm does not work for you. Burgers and hotdogs will be provided for dinner Saturday Evening.

• Decon was briefly discussed for new cavers. Please decon your gear to prevent the spread of White Nose Syndrome. Decon Procedures are on the grotto website.

Notable Dates:                  

• Beginners Weekend this weekend. Please notify the list serv if you need a ride. 

• October 1^st Horizontal Cave Trip to WVACS to a cave nearby.  We will drive down Saturday Morning and stay the night. 

• Bridge Day is October 15, 2011 at New River Gorge. Please come out to support the grotto members who are participating at Bridge Day.
