Meeting Minutes 7 September 2011

Meeting called to order by Chairman Allen Dove at 8:11 pm

The total number of people in attendance at the end of the meeting was 15.

Treasurer's Report:

• $873.22 (same as last week).
• Still need to send check to West Virginia Caver.

Vertical Practice:

• 10 people in attendance. An extra Vertical Practice will be held on Monday to help with the growing number of members doing vertical practice. All attendees ascended at least twice and Adi practiced the change-over.
• Anyone interested in vertical practice that cannot make the preset dates contact Jeremy Browning or the list serv.

Old Business:

·         Members that went to Old Timers Reunion had a good time.

New Business:

• Jeremy Browning elected as new Vertical Committee Chair
• Jeremy is going down to Karst Sports to pick up equipment to add to the sets of vertical gear.
• The grotto is going to borrow some of the helmets and headlamps from the Mon Grotto
• Discussed details of Beginners Weekend. The grotto will be supplying batteries for the grotto lamps.
• The first vertical trip will be Carpenter Swaygo. Mystic Cave, New Trout Cave, and Hamilton Cave are other possible vertical trips.
• Possible Rafting Trip on Bridge Day.

Program:

• Saw some pictures of Nicole and David at Grapevine Pit, Briar Pit, Sinks at the Run, and Black Bear Plunge.

Notable Dates:

·         Tuesday, September 13, 2011 Postponed Weekday Trip Lot 7 across from Brooks Hall at 6:00 pm. The group is leaving by 6:10 if there is no communication that you will be late.

·         Beginners Weekend is September 16-18, 2011. Campsite is still being determined as well as the caves that will be visited on the trip. One of the possible trips is Sharps Cave.

·         Vertical Practice Monday, September 12, 2011 at 5:30 pm and on Wednesday September 14, 2011 at 5:30pm.

·         Bridge Day is October 15, 2011 at New River Gorge. Please come out to support the grotto members who are participating at Bridge Day.
