Trip Reports Spring Break - Simmons-Mingo Dave Riggs, John Harman, Gayle Suppa, Kyle McMillan, Krista Tindall, Rachel McCo rmick, and special guests Chris Codes and Nikki Fox from VA went in the historic entrance all the way to the old cable ladder before the bath tub. Kyle McMillan and John Harman then re-rigged the cable ladder. The Grotto had also stayed at Oil Drum Falls the night before and after, which is a second entrance to the cav e. - Roadside Pit Dave Riggs, Rachel McCormick, Krista Tindall, and Kyle McMillan went to Roadside Pit and explored quite a bit. It is near Carpenter-Swaygo and is literally righ t beside the road. There's a 70ft rappel which was through a little bit of a wat erfall because of the rain on the surface. They then explored quite a bit, found a rather large formation room that was very nice, as well as a bolt climb at th e end of the cave done by John Harman. Kyle McMillan and Rachel McCormick climbe d and rappelled the rope. - Allen Pitsenbarger Cave Rachel McCormick, Krista Tindall, Allen Dove, Gayle Suppa, and Kyle McMillan all rappelled into Allen Pitsenbarger, which was a very nice, rather open drop with the walls covered in moss. At the bottom of the first drop, there was a slop fo llowed by a rebelay to go down another small drop to a nice pool that putting th e rest of the cave under water. - Short Cave Allen Dove, Gayle Suppa, Kyle McMillan, and Rachel McCormick went to Short Cave. After a short rappel to the entrance, there was a 400ft crawlway. At the Juncti on room, they first went to the right and explored a dryer section of the cave w ith some neat passages and lots of popcorn. They later went to the right and exp lored the wetter part of the cave with some more formations. There was also a lo t of flagging in parts of the cave that aren't on the map. They explored a littl e bit. - Cheat Canyon John Tudek and Dave Riggs went ridgewalking in the Cheat Canyon. They found one shelter sandstone cave and a tributary. Meeting adjourned at 9:15p My apologies for the minutes being so ridiculously late.
