From: "Rachel McCormick" Date: Fri, 12 Mar 2010 20:44:50 -0000 Subject: [wvusg] Meeting Minutes for 3/10 Meeting Minutes for 10 March 2010 Meeting called to order by Chairperson Gayle Suppa at 8:02p Financial Report - No change Old Business - Kyle McMillan will be calling Princeton Tech to check on the status of the lig hts he sent in Grant - Gayle and Kyle got together and worked on the grant. It now totals $350, leavi ng the rest to be spent on books. Gayle and John Tudek will be working on pricin g some books. Library - Everything is in John Tudek's office, except for the NSS Newsletters. The maps still need catalogued and the Grotto is still waiting to hear from Lee Stevens on her donations to the library. A laminated copy of Sharp's Cave is also being donated. - The Grotto also has no problem with having duplicates in the library, should t hat happen when books are bought. Trips - TAG, Spring Break After re-reading the policy set down by the Grotto at the beginning of the semes ter, it was decided that to stay in accordance with it, the Grotto shouldn't mak e a trip down to TAG. Vote: That Grotto gear shouldn't be allowed to go to TAG. The majority were in favor, with two abstaining, so the Grotto gear will not be allowed to go to TAG. - Spring Break In lieu of the cancelled TAG trip, it has been proposed that a trip can be taken to many of the caves in West Virginia. Sites Cave was suggested by Kyle McMilla n; other suggestions would be greatly appreciated - PSC Jamboree This was suggested by John Harman for anyone who may be interested. It is held t he third weekend in June at the Lutz Fieldstation in Pocahontas Co. - Short Cave Allen Dove got permission from the owner of Short Cave for the Grotto to take a trip down there, so a trip here will be planned in the future. New Business - Unfortunately, there have been several new WNS sites in West Virginia, includi ng Castle Cave and Bone-Norman Cave, as well as Greises Cave near Cumberland, MD . - Dave Riggs let the Grotto know about a summer internship at Mammoth Cave helpi ng with some bat research. He has already sent out an email to the listserv with some information and the website link. - Motion by John Harman to donate $50 to the cancer research fund as a memorial to Tom Hayes's wife. Seconded by Kyle McMillan A card to Tom Hayes was also suggested and will be brought to the next meeting t o be signed by everyone. Meeting adjourned at 9:00p
