From: "Rachel McCormick" Date: Thu, 04 Mar 2010 03:06:16 -0000 Subject: [wvusg] Meeting Minutes for 3/3 Meeting Minutes for 3 March 2010 Meeting called to order by Chairperson Gayle Suppa at 8:04p Financial Report - The Grotto has $727.79 now. This is after paying back John Tudek for purchasin g a rubber stamp for the library - Three people came and worked the basketball game on Monday, and it is estimate d that we'll receive about $100-120. Thank you Gayle Suppa, Krista Tindall, and Erin Murphy for coming out and putting in your time. Gear - Gayle has retrieved the two lights and helmets from Abby Hohn's parent's house . These have been returned to Grotto Gear kept at Dave Rigg's house. - An auction of old gear was held. Stas Edel is trying to repair a clinometer and a Petzel headlamp for the Grotto. Kyle McMillan is holding the Grotto rope walker and will be bringing to vert pra ctice for reference. Grant - Kyle McMillan and Gayle Suppa will be meeting next Wednesday, 10 March at 3:30 -4p to go over the grant proposal. Terra Incognito - Dave Riggs has volunteered to do the Simmons Mingo trip report. He has also pr oposed that we have the newsletter printed using MagCloud. It is estimated that it would only cost about $5.50 for a nice, glossy copy of the newsletter. - John Harman is still doing a trip report for the Mexico Trip. He also suggeste d that if the Grotto would like to print copies of the newsletter for members, t hat possibly dues could be marked up slightly to cover the cost next year. - If anyone has *pictures* from any of the Grotto trips that wouldn't mind them being in the newsletter, please send them along to me. I currently don't have an y, and that's going to lead to a very boring Terra Incognito. Trips - Roadside Pit, this weekend Due to snow most likely blocking the entrance as well as the parking area to Roa dside Pit, this trip has unfortunately been cancelled. - Spring Break Anyone interested in participating in Grotto activities over Spring Break should come to next weeks meeting, 10 March. We will be making more concrete plans and any input would be appreciated. Library - The books are being moved into John Tudek's office and they should all be ther e by Spring Break. He has also purchased a stamp specifying the books and docume nts as property of the Grotto Trip Reports - Dave Riggs, Kyle McMillan, Stas Edel, and Mitch Mickaliger tried to go caving at Maiden Run this past Sunday, but instead went hiking up Snake Hill to Cheat V iew for an awesome view of the Cheat Canyon covered in snow. Meeting adjourned at 9:10p
