October 14, 2009 [Ed: correct date is October 21]

Meeting called to order at 8:10 by Chairperson Abby Hohn

FINANCIAL REPORT: 
- No change $558.72

GROTTO CAVING POLICY:
-Dave will update web page along the lines of 
    (The Grotto will respect WSN cave closures. If you have any questions, please post to the list serve)

TERRA INCOGNITO:
-Rachel and Abby will talk about what needs to be done. (After the meeting)

TRIPS
-Cave survey trip Oct. 25th
     The trip to Beaver Hole has been changed to a practice at the Arboretum. 
     We will meet at the Coliseum at 3:00pm.
     We will check to see if we can barrow John Tudek's survey gear.
     Abby will locate and pick up the Grotto's survey gear.
-Rich's Fright Farm 
     The corn maze was not opened this year. We will go but to do the haunted house.
     We will meet at 8:00pm  at the Coliseum. The haunted house is $10.00
-Yokum's Cabin trip Nov. 7th 
     We are changing this trip to Pocahontas County. 
     John Harman will look up places to stay.
     Potential caves:
          Vert.- Cookpot, Flower Pot, Carpenter-Swago, Roadside Pit,  
                 Tub-Cave
          Hor.- Simmons-Mingo, Bone-Norman Cave
     Dave Riggs will look up more options for horizontal caves

TRIP REPORTS:
-Allen went to Troy Cave. (Found the entrance) [Ed: Allen Dove visited Tory Cave]
     The entrance is caved in but may have found a in the NW corner, a tight space to squeeze through.
     There are many stories going around about the entrance collapse
-Allen also went to Randall Cave [Ed: he did not go to the cave]
     There is believed to be a drop in the back of the cave that has never been dropped
-Bridge Day
     Dave, John, Abby, and Gayle rappelled this year. The rappellers 
     had a great time fighting with the trees
     Geremy, Krista, Rachel, and Tom went to watch.
After Bridge Day, the group went camping and then headed to Carpenter-Swago. They rigged both sides so they could do a through trip. They checked out Dry Gallery and a pit with an old rope hanging, and a shoe at the bottom.

JUST A REMINDER:
-We did not talk about the Halloween party at the meeting. Abby will send out more information.

Meeting was adjourned after the movie ended at about 8:56 [Ed: there was no movie]
