Date: Thu, 4 Nov 2004 20:23:10 -0500 From: Brian Masney Subject: What happened at the last meeting... Here is some of what was talked about last night. * We briefly talked about making T-Shirts for the grotto. Dave found a few old designs in the grotto library. I'd rather have a brand new design. If you feel motivated to design a grotto T-Shirt, feel free to do so and bring it to an upcoming meeting. If we get a few good designs, we could have several different T-Shirts. Also, if we get a good design, it'd be nice to have a grotto patch for people's cave suits. * If you have taken some pictures at any of the grotto trips this semester and I don't have them, then please send them to me. I have a really big grotto picture collection as it stands already. It'll make it easier for me to create slide shows for future meetings. I'll gladly make anyone a CD with my current grotto pictures. * We didn't talk about this at the meeting, but it'd be nice to start putting grotto signs all around campus again. Any volunteers? I can take care of the engineering campus but I'm rarely on any other parts of campus. I put the sign that Dave made in the files section of http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wvusg/ If you need copies made, I can arrage that * We're going to Cheat View on Friday night (11/5/2004). We're going to go rappeling/ascending. No one expressed any interest in camping but we'll probably be there pretty late in the evening. I'll be at the tables in the Rec Center (by the big screen TV) at 5:30PM. If you wasn't at the meeting last night and you want to come, let me know you are coming. Also, if it is raining on Friday evening, then we're not going to Cheat View. We didn't go last Friday because of the thunderstorms in the area. * The Shaver's Mountain survey is this weekend. Meet at the Alpena Lodge on Saturday morning at 9am. This is always the first weekend of every month. Email me if you need more information about this. * There is a cave rescue class the next weekend (Nov 13th/14th). There is a fair number of people from the grotto that are going to be there for this. If you need more information about this, email Doug at doug@karstsports.com Also, just a small thing that I would like to see happen. I feel the grotto is big enough that we don't need to have just 1 trip planned on the weekend. It doesn't even have to be caving related, just something related to the outdoors. We have enough people with varying interests that we could always have something going on. Brian
