Subject: What happened at the last WVU Grotto meeting (08/25/2004)


* Gave introduction on the club and what we do
* Talked about upcoming trips:
  * There will be a small trip to Barton's Cave next Thursday (Sep 2nd). We'll
    meet at the rec center parking lot at 6pm. The cave is about 35-40 minutes
    north of Morgantown. We should be back in Morgantown by 11-12PM.
  * Beginner's weekend #1 will be the weekend of September 10th-12th.
    We will camp in the Elkins area and have several cave trips planned.
    We will at least have trips to Bowden, Alpena and to the Sinks of Ghandi.
    The campsite will be about 1 1/2 hours from Morgantown. If you would
    like to just come down and cave on Saturday, you are more than welcome
    to that.
  * The second beginner's weekend will take place October 8th-10th. It will be
    in either Greenbrier or Monroe County in Southern West Virginia. It's about
    3 1/2 hours from Morgantown.
* If you are coming on a trip with us, there is a Gear List link on the main
  WVU Student Grotto website (http://www.wvusg.org). There is a downloadable
  checklist available on that webpage.
* Grotto dues are $15 a year. If you are new to the group, you can come on the
  first beginner weekend trip and see if you like caving before you pay your
  dues.
* I gave a very small slideshow. I will give a much larger slideshow at the
  next meeting. Rich is also going to have some video of some cave trips from
  the past year.

Also, we will have our meetings every Wednesday night at the Rec Center
conference room at 8PM. I hope to see everyone there.
