How to Submit to the
"RASS REGISTER Online"

Electronic Submissions:
By far the easiest way to submit articles and other items for the Register is online, using email (mailto:rassregister@bigfoot.com). Every email program, including AOL, has a way to "attach files" to a message. (Note: Some free services like Juno DO NOT ALLOW sending or receiving attachments.)

I can use almost any format word processing document, or you can simply type the article in the body of the message.

To send pictures electronically, you have to be able to scan them into your computer. I can work with any format picture, but please send me pictures that haven't yet been "touched up". It's easier for me to work with the raw image. Digital cameras save the scanning step by allowing you download the pictures directly to your harddrive, view them, and attach the ones you choose to an email message.

Hardcopy Submissions (including prints and slides):
You can certainly send printed copy to me, too. I can scan and OCR most documents to avoid retyping. If you print the article out on a computer printer, use a font like Helvetica or Arial in 12 point size or slightly larger. That scans well and saves me lots of work.

If you send prints or slides PLEASE IDENTIFY EACH PICTURE ON THE BACK or ON THE SLIDE MOUNT - include photographer, and when and where the picture was taken. Identify every person in the picture. Remember, a web-based newsletter is available worldwide, so as a rule, I will not identify children under 18 years old. I suggest you send me only extra prints or duplicate slides. I promise to try to return things, and I will send batches of pictures back to the office periodically for distribution at meetings.

Please give your hardcopy to Margot Geisler, she'll send it all in one batch (plus, I'd rather not publish my home address online).

Send links to cool caving sites to me, too. And any content you think we need to add, subtract, modify, squeeze, expand, tighten, loosen, rig, de-rig, redline, dele, or stet on the site, just let me know! I appreciate comments and feedback on content, navigation, etc., etc., etc.
